Associated Charities Trust CLG (ACT) is a not-for-profit company with Charitable Status. ACT is a voluntary housing association which was founded in Limerick City in 1990. ACT provides emergency accommodation services for homeless women at Thomond House Women’s Hostel. ACT also operates a transitional housing programme in 5 housing units in Limerick City for single people and families. ACT manages long-term accommodation in 10 apartments at Altamira Court for single people. In addition, a scheme to build 18 apartments for long-term supported housing is in progress and is expected to be completed by 2023. ACT is mainly supported by Service Level Agreements with Limerick City and County Council, and, the HSE.
The position of Board Director/Charity Trustee entails the following:
• Policy formation and implementation
• Input to the strategic direction of the charity
• Commitment to corporate governance
• Acting with reasonable care and skill in the interest of the charity
• Ensuring the charity is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit
• Manage the assets of the charity
• Attendance at Board Meetings
Qualities Desired for the role of Trustee
The Board is interested in talking to individuals who are willing to devote time in assisting the charity to fulfil its goals: working to provide support services, shelter, and housing for people at risk and homeless in Limerick. Knowledge of community-based organisations, social media or fundraising would be welcome.
