Kilkenny County Council successfully developed a former pub and car park, in Kilkenny City into an 18 unit social housing scheme. Its name ‘Pairc Nua’ represents the townland of ‘Newpark’.
The scheme is an example of a cost-effective, successful, adaptive reuse of existing building stock, and rejuvenation of a brownfield site. The former pub/guesthouse was retrofitted and refurbished into A-rated apartments, and 6 nr A rated New Build units were constructed on the former car park. A renewed sense of place has been created for the new residents – to the benefit of the area’s social and building fabric. Kilkenny County Council are very proud of this housing scheme.
