Cork City Council took over responsibility for the Homeless Persons Unit from the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection in 2019. Cork City Council from the outset wished to put in place a centralised office space for this service, and to create a welcoming and efficient placement service for those finding themselves homeless.
This project was designed to provide a high quality centralised Accommodation Placement Service to a bespoke design and providing suitable facilities both for the customer and the staff managing the facility, and required the sourcing of a suitable city centre location and the conversion of an existing commercial premises to this bespoke design to provide the highest standards of customer service and a holistic focus on individual solutions and supports for those who find themselves homeless.
