Ballyogan Square, Dublin | Leading the Climate Change Transition | Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council

The scheme explores how to maximise a backland and leftover site to provide a diverse range of valuable residential options, achieving a density of 35 units per hectare, providing sixty-seven high-quality energy-efficient Passive House standard and A1-rated dwellings in the form of fifty-nine 2-bedroom and eight 3-bedroom homes.

The development is constructed on residual lands from the construction of the M50 motorway and integrates easily into a well-established community, promoting pedestrian and cycle connectivity to amenities and public transport. The development promotes a high degree of overlooking and passive surveillance to public areas.

The terraced dwellings are arranged to create cul-de-sac/homezone spaces and provide an active frontage to a large area of green open space. The scheme also utilised additional sustainable drainage methods, including swales and permeable paving, minimising artificial drainage on the scheme, along with planting native landscaping to enhance biodiversity and the local environment.
