Dublin City Council have developed a dedicated ‘MMC’ (Modern Methods of Construction) programme for housing delivery, the first local authority in the country to apply MMC to multi-storey housing. Bunratty was the first of four projects delivering a total of 261 homes across the city on two city centre and two suburban sites. Each of the four projects utilise the same six dwelling typologies developed for Bunratty Walk, customised to fit their local contexts.
Levitt Bernstein and ABK architects were commissioned to develop a pilot MMC project of semi-detached houses and four-storey apartment blocks at Bunratty Road in north Dublin. This strategy was developed and expanded to the rest of the bundle.
Bunratty Walk delivers 78 homes, including 32 one-bed, 28 two-bed apartments, 14 three-bed houses, and 4 two-bedroom wheelchair-liveable dwellings designed to Universal Design+ standards.
