Park House | Small Regeneration Project | Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council

This regeneration project involved the adaptive reuse of a long-vacant building located at a key town centre site within the existing settlement footprint. Substantially completed in February 2025, the development delivers four high-quality social housing units for individuals and families above a commercial premises, responding directly to local housing need while preserving and enhancing the urban environment.

The development is located within immediate walking distance of key services including shops, schools, public transport and community facilities, supporting compact growth and sustainable urban living. The use of energy-efficient insulation, air-to-air heat pumps, and A-rated windows helped achieve A2 and A3 BER ratings. Durable materials—including retained brickwork and low-maintenance finishes—contribute to long-term sustainability.

Community integration is enhanced by the mixed-use nature of the development, passive surveillance, and reinvigoration of a previously inactive site in the town centre. The project exemplifies how vacant town centre buildings can be transformed into sustainable urban homes, supporting compact growth, urban renewal and enhancing existing communities.
