The Stanwix Village is a development of 19 social housing units in a town centre location that delivers secure, modern and very comfortable homes for a mix of elderly persons, persons with disabilities, and other single persons in need of accommodation. The Stanwix Village project necessitated the complete refurbishment of the former Stanwix Home, a protected structure of special interest as a unique gothic Alms house constructed in 1889, in addition to the construction of new units of accommodation.
The project comprises 13 independent own door units, a community home for 5 adults who require 24/7 supported accommodation, one unit for an adult who requires one-to-one 24/7 supported accommodation, and a community centre. The Stanwix Village continues the legacy of the original benefactor, Emma Slaughter-Stanwix, by building a supportive community while preserving this historic building for future generations.
