The Cork Street regeneration project has transformed a derelict site in Central Dublin to provide 55 new social homes for rent and a new café/shop alongside the hugely successful Weaver Park. Following the demolition of out-dated Council apartment buildings in 2008, the site lay derelict until Dublin City Council devised a strategy for renewal of the area. Responding to a campaign by the local community to provide a new park and skating area and utilising intensive engagement for design development, Weaver Park opened in 2017.
Weaver Place and Poplin Place, completed in December 2023 and occupied in Spring 2024, provide 32xone-bed, 10xtwo-bed (including two Universal Design+ homes) and 13xthree-bed apartments. Developed as part of DCC’s innovative modular housing programme, they were partially built off-site to benefit from the efficiencies of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and enable higher quality construction.
