The ICSH welcome the announcement today by Ministers Kelly and Coffey of the €151m investment the first significant development programme under CAS for the last number of years
Funding of €84m will be provided for new build construction of 521 new homes and €67m for the purchase of a further 536 homes.
Chief Executive, Mr Donal McManus said: ‘There was an overwhelming response to the call for proposals earlier this year. Our members have been awaiting this announcement and are eager to progress with the wide range of housing projects planned across the country’. He added: ‘These homes are specifically aimed to assist prospective tenants with particular needs such as elderly people, persons with a disability and homeless persons.
Through this investment, over 40 housing associations will be actively developing housing nationally and will be facilitated to utilise sites and organisational capacity. The sector has a key role to play in the ongoing delivery of social housing and is committed to working in partnership with Local Authorities, Department of Environment, Community and Local Government, (DECLG) and financial institutions to do this.
