Rewarding social impact projects in housing and communities
The social and sustainability impact of approved housing bodies and local authorities is immeasurable. Various sectors and industries are currently working to embed ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) into their practice. However, AHBs and local authorities have been working with ESG principles at their core for many years.
As part of our upcoming Finance and Development Conference (16th & 17th October 2024 – Radisson Blu Hotel, Sligo), the ICSH will spotlight this work through a dedicated conference session that will showcase four initiatives led by approved housing bodies or local authorities in a Dragon’s Den style pitching session.
We are now seeking entries from AHBs and local authorities for their initiatives that have taken a proactive and pioneering approach to improving the sustainability and well-being of the communities they serve. Examples of projects might include:
- The provision of social or economic supports for an underserved community
- Initiatives that promote rights, participation and good governance
- Projects that focus on the development of assistive technologies/ IT solutions or support services that promote independent living.
- Solutions that produce low energy/high BER through design or retrofit
Eligibility
We are keen to hear about projects that meet all of the following criteria:
- An approved housing body or local authority has been instrumental in the establishment or running of the project
- The beneficiaries of the project are primarily AHB or LA tenants or communities in which there is a significant cohort of social housing tenancies
- The project has had a tangible positive impact on the economic, environmental or social fabric of the community and can be replicated by other social housing providers
Entry Process
- The closing date for receipt of entries is Friday, September 20th 2024.
- All entries will be reviewed by an ICSH/AIB panel.
- Successful entries will be invited to present their project and field questions from judges during a dedicated session at the ICSH Finance and Development Conference on October 16th in the Radisson Blu Hotel in Sligo. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your project to more than 350 housing and community leaders.
- As part of the presentation, we will invite you to submit a short (30 second approx) video that demonstrates your project (your video will also be played intermittently to delegates over the course of the two-day conference).
- A winning project will be decided by both the judges and conference delegates. The successful project will receive business mentoring focused on measuring and enhancing your sustainability practices from AIB/Goodbody.
