PIONEERING HOUSING PROJECT FOR OLDER PEOPLE TAKES TOP IRISH AWARD

Supported housing scheme with 52 apartments honoured at ICSH conference in Cavan

A groundbreaking development for older adults has been named as the overall winner at the Irish Council for Social Housing Community Housing Awards 2025. Prizes across eleven categories were awarded at the ICSH National Social Housing Conference, hosted at the Slieve Russell hotel in Cavan.

Sponsored by IPB Insurance, the awards are a platform to show the innovation and sustainability in public housing projects supported by approved housing bodies (AHBs), local authorities and the Land Development Agency in communities all over Ireland.

Supported housing scheme Richmond Place in Dublin 8 was completed in March of this year and is managed by Circle Voluntary Housing Association. The first of its kind in Ireland, the development is designed to empower older adults to age in place and adapt to residents’ evolving needs, from accommodating caregivers to providing space for couples. Communal facilities, including a residents’ room with a kitchen, a hairdresser, and beautiful gardens further foster a vibrant community atmosphere.

The awards ceremony delivered a double victory for Richmond Place as it was also pronounced the winner of the Large Regeneration Project category.
