‘The roll-out of the commitments in Housing for All has begun in earnest with meetings with the key stakeholders focusing on the various measures needed to expedite delivery. There is now a much stronger pipeline and base of new general needs projects, However, this needs to continue on an annual basis, with private sector partnerships as well as the assembly of residential land, with state land being central to this. The delivery of smaller and more specialist housing types made less of an impact generally in recent years. However, the profile of social housing need, with households of one- and two-persons, has to be reflected in a more balanced delivery of homes. And alongside the need for a significant increase in the delivery of social and affordable housing, is the huge retrofitting programme of housing stock for improved energy efficiency.’ Donal McManus, CEO, Irish Council for Social Housing
