iCare Housing was originally established to play a role in providing sustainable housing outcomes for people in long term mortgage arrears. Since then, we have helped over 1,800 people to secure a safe, sustainable housing outcome. We have supported people in communities right across Ireland with homes in every local authority area.

Today, iCare continues to lead the way in Mortgage to Rent solutions and is the largest provider of these solutions. We have also recently started to offer more traditional social housing solutions with new build and turnkey arrangements. Our ambition is to continue to deliver real and transformative impact, delivering sustainable solutions in sustainable homes for people across Ireland.

Role Purpose

The main purpose of the Finance Manager role is to assist the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in ensuring that iCare Housing delivers excellent strategic and financial planning; effective financial management and control; value for money; internal customer service; and the highest standards of governance, and performance management.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Lead the day-to-day management of the finance function, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and cash flow.
  • Assist in the preparation of  accurate monthly management accounts, forecasts, and annual financial statements.
  • Develop budgets in collaboration with senior management and monitor performance against targets.
  • Manage all tax compliance returns of the organisation both periodically and annually. This includes VAT, LPT, RCT and PAYE returns.
  • Present timely financial reports and insights for the CEO, Board, and Audit & Risk Committee.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, the Charities Regulator, the Approved Housing Bodies Regulatory Authority (AHBRA), and all relevant statutory obligations.
  • Liaise with external & Internal auditors and oversee the annual audit process.
  • Maintain up-to-date financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Strategic & Operational Support

  • Provide financial analysis to support decision-making, funding applications, and investment strategies.
  • Work closely with the CFO and senior leadership team on long-term financial planning and sustainability.

Team & Systems Leadership

  • Oversee and develop the finance team, ensuring effective performance and professional development.
  • Ensure financial systems and software are efficient, secure, and fit for purpose.
  • Champion a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Ideally Minimum 2+ years’ post-qualification experience, ideally within housing, non-profit, social enterprise, or regulated sectors.
  • Strong technical knowledge of financial reporting standards, charity/AHB compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in preparing management accounts, budgets, and financial models.
  • Proven ability to engage with Boards, senior management, and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent IT skills, with strong knowledge of accounting systems and Microsoft Office.
