Fruithill Manor is a modern residential estate located on the outskirts of Carlow town, adjacent to the Carlow-Laois border. Former Nama properties which consists of 74 homes and a community building, offering a mix of two-, three-, four-, and five-bedroom units. The community is diverse, with residents ranging from young families to older adults, including individuals with additional needs and from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
In 2024, Fruithill Manor was identified as a priority area for targeted interventions due to concerns about anti-social and nuisance behaviour, primarily involving children. In response, CHI’s newly formed Safer Neighbourhood Team— the first of its kind among Approved Housing Bodies—implemented a strategy focusing on community connection, early intervention, and diversionary activities, particularly around Halloween, a traditionally high-risk period for anti-social behaviour. The approach had a clear and positive impact.
