Ard na Gaoithe, Whiterock Hill, Wexford | Large Family Housing Project | Wexford County Council

Ard na Gaoithe has been delivered on site over 2 phases, commencing in 2022 and completing in November 2024. The scheme comprises 44 units in total with mixed occupancies of 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-bed houses and apartments. The scheme delivers multiple amenity spaces of different natures, critical to creating a sense of place and community. This also links both phases of development and ensures the overall scheme is cohesive and integrated. The scheme is a low rise medium density suburban housing development integrating into its surrounding context, with clustered Apartments based around a shared amenity space and own door access.

The scheme benefits from planned landscaping, the use of permeable green parking bays that are seeded and consolidated to increase the visual greening of the site, pocket green areas seeded by wildflowers and self-managing and edge planting with semi mature staked trees. The scheme includes high insulation values (NZEB compliance) and very low space heating needs, with naturally ventilated and multi-aspect glazing with opening lights for air changes.
