The role:

The purpose of this role is to foster community engagement and develop relationships specifically with the Iveagh Trust’s older residents, supporting them to live independently in the community for as long as possible.
Working closely with the Trust’s housing department, estate staff, the Dublin Call and Care nursing service, resident committees and external agencies, the Tenant Liaison Officer position is instrumental in developing community engagement initiatives, hosting activities and offering support to older residents that may need a helping hand and a listening ear.

Principal tasks & responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop community engagement plans and initiatives for older residents across the Iveagh Trust’s communities, with a particular focus on the Trust’s older persons housing schemes.
  • Organise weekly social functions to combat social isolation, encourage older tenants to mix and take an active part in their community. Liaise closely with older residents that may need additional support, visiting them in their homes, in hospital, checking in over the phone.
  • Liaise closely with Dublin Call and Care Nurses regarding resident’s basic medical needs.
  • Carry out risk assessments regarding complex needs cases.
  • Assist residents to move on if they are no longer able to live. independently.
  • Attend meetings with multi-disciplinary teams, relevant departments and stakeholders.
  • Organise TeleCare service for senior citizens and other support services as appropriate.
  • Organise annual daytrips and other outings.
  • Organise special Christmas events.
  • Organise gardening and window box competitions.
  • Encourage Resident Committees in relation to gardening and other community-based activities.

Other

  • General administration work related to the position and to assist the housing team when required, using the Trust’s Housing Management System, Microsoft Word and Excel, corresponding with residents and ensuring information up to date.
  • Assist with other ad-hoc administration duties.

  • Ensure confidentiality on all matters and information obtained during the course of employment.
