Mr Paudie Coffey, TD, Minister of State at the Department of the Environment Community and Local Government carried out a tree planting ceremony on the 17th February to mark the official opening of Woodfield House, 12 new family homes in Blarney, Co. Cork.
Woodfield House is a partnership project between NAMA, Cork County Council and Túath Housing Association which has resulted in the long term leasing of 12 new homes in Blarney, under the Special Purpose Vehicle NARPS (National Asset Residential Property Services Ltd).
Túath give thanks to Cork County Council, NAMA and the Department of the Environment, Community & Local Government for their efforts in facilitating this leasing initiative and supporting Túath to deliver these homes and to see 12 families off the housing waiting list and in their new home.
Speaking at the opening the Minister said: “The Government, through the Social Housing Strategy, is committed to dealing comprehensively with the housing list. The strategy therefore marks a fresh start for social housing in Ireland. The next challenge will be implementation and to ensure that the delivery challenge is met. That will require significant effort by all delivery agents. I know you are up for the task and I urge you to do everything you can to meet the challenge. In the recent past, in an era of constraint, we have all had to reappraise how we are delivering quality housing. I know that Túath has responded to these new circumstances in an admirably positive way.”
