As part of the initial workplan of ‘Theme 2 – Interagency Collaboration and the Provision of Supports’, contained in the National Housing Strategy for Disabled People 2022-2027, the Mental Health Tenancy Sustainment Officer (TSO) role is to be extended nationally through the Approved Housing Body (AHB) sector.
The TSOs will work with local authorities and AHBs to support people with psychosocial or mental health difficulties to sustain their tenancies and prevent homelessness.
The TSO roles will be placed within an AHB based in each area that is covered by the TSO. The AHB will be responsible for the employment of the TSO(s) based on their own recruitment and employment policies. The term of the funding for the TSOs will be from Q2 in 2022 to the end of 2027 subject to satisfactory service provision and the demonstrated need for the service in an area. It is expected that the TSO salary will be pitched at between €33,000 – €35,000 pa and the funding available to the AHB will be €60,000pa per TSO.
The TSOs will be responsible for supporting individuals from across the Approved Housing Body sector and will not be limited to tenants within the AHB in which they are based. They may also work closely with members of the Community Mental Health Team whose role will be to provide any clinical aspects of a community treatment plan.
With this objective in mind the Housing Agency is currently seeking Expressions of Interest from Approved Housing Bodies that wish to assist in the delivery of the vision of the National Housing Strategy for Disabled People 2022 – 2027 with regards to the provision of tenancy sustainment to individuals who have psychosocial or mental health difficulties.
