The Housing Agency have recently developed a briefing note on domestic violence with input and an endorsement from the Department of Justice and linked closely to their ‘What would you do’ campaign, launched in 2018. This briefing has also been distributed to all local authorities.
Domestic violence is an issue of particular concern affecting many households around the country and was highlighted in the Taoiseach’s speech announcing the new restrictions. Domestic violence support services have recently highlighted how demand for their services has increased hugely this year. This briefing note outlines ways in which housing staff, both AHB and local authority, can support tenants who may be experiencing domestic violence.
